Maskan was born and raised on Corellia, after his parents fled Mon Calamari, during the Clone Wars. There, they started a small shipping company, that often did joint business with the Kiber family, who became close friends pretty early, after settling down on this planet.
Maskan and the Kiber's son Sinjin often used to fly escort for their family transports in some old and beat-up Z-95 Headhunters, which is where both discovered, how much they loved to pilot.
Life grew harder and harder over the years and the Empire's growing contempt towards non-humans was also becoming noticeable in otherwise more cosmopolitan areas, like Corellia. This was mostly evident in, that Maskan's parents found it harder and harder, to gain new contracts. Even the help of the Kiber family only let them manage, to barely survive.
Then one day changed it all. A small band of dissidents on the run hid from the imperial forces in a nearby house, but were later sold-out and found. Maskan's parents simply happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and the captain of the pursuing vessel publically executed them, to set an example. Being among the crowd, but warned away by his father's pleading look and the number of stormtroopers, Maskan was unable to do anything and forced to watch.
Being impoverished over the seizure of the family assets, the Calamari managed to find a post at Corellia's very own CEC, where he worked in the R&D department. After two years he was framed for an accidental explosion during an engine test by the new imperial liason officer and fired by his superior for it. As he shipped back to Corellia, he noticed that a lot of non-human co-workers had been fired that day...
Spending a lot of time in the cantinas near Coronet's spaceport, Maskan began to put his piloting experience to good use and took on a number of assignments. After one particular job, that involved saving his client from his former pirate buddies, he decided to look for a bit more quiet work, where he was less likely, to be blown to bits each day. Chatting with another of the cantina's regulars, he got to know an Arcona named Me'rrick, a weapon smith who would become his next employer.
Sadly, the salt addiction of his new mentor and teacher proved to be a problem, that would be the former mercenary's (and sometimes bounty hunter) undoing. One day a squad of stormtroopers inspected the shop and kept Me'rrick, from getting another dose of the mineral. The resulting hallucinations led the Arcona to attack the troopers, taking out four of them. One of the troopers watching the backdoor of the building apprehended Maskan, who was just returning from a delivery, as his colleagues fought the owner and eventually succeeded, by using a thermal detonator, that unfortunately exploded near a display of even more grenades. The explosion took out the Arcona, the remaining trooper outside and the one arresting Maskan. The Calamari later woke up, finding himself half burried beneath the back door, which shielded him from most of the explosion.
Current whereabouts: unknown. Probably involved in a reported bar brawl on the same day.
